Hilgraeve introduced DropChute instant file delivery software in February 1998 to do away with problems businesses experience when they try to exchange files as email attachments or with ftp problems such as corrupted files, slow or uncertain delivery, trouble exchanging large files, and security concerns.

DropChute software incorporates an easy drag-and-drop interface, and lets users exchange files with others through secure, real-time PC-to-PC connections via the Internet, intranets, or direct modem-to-modem calls. DropChute automatically resumes interrupted file transfers, provides virus protection (updated free); ensures privacy with RSA Public Key Authentication and Symmetric Key Encryption (using Microsoft or 3rd party Cryptographic Service Providers conforming to MS CryptoAPI standards); issues real-time on-screen or e-mailed confirmations; and tracks activity with a detailed log.
